Anesthetic Management of a Patient with Type II Alexander Disease: A Case Report

Patients with type II Alexander disease have white matter dysplasia, which may cause various symptoms due to nerve conduction impairment. When providing anesthesia a patient disease, careful and patient-specific individualized risk evaluation must be preceded by planning the method of anesthetic drugs. This is first case report who underwent general anesthesia. We performed on 45-year-old male for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, using remimazolam, remifentanil, rocuronium. Despite use reversal agents including flumazenil, naloxone, sugammadex, manifested delay in emergence but successfully recovered from without postoperative complications. In consideration possibility that leukodystrophy altered responses anesthetics, action an agent prolonged or delayed patients disease. recommend drugs short duration can reversed immediately agent.
